Photographer's Note
A repost with much improved sky and overall colour.
Out around Birdsville in SW Queensland bitumen roads have never been known (except for a little bit in town). Roads are dirt with plenty of sand and plenty of dust holes.
Many people have just abandoned their cars when they broke down, rolled or crashed. Some are still there, rusting, many years later on the flat red stony plains.
This one is a Holden dating from the early to mid 1950s.
Scanned from negative.

Hi, Ian,
This photo reminds me the old shots from Iraq war.
Impressive oldtimer, but his long life is finished, unfortunatelly.

Hi Ian.
Yes, I can make out some of the panels of the old FJ or whichever model it was - maybe the FX, judging from the grille? That one was sold from 1948 to 53 or thereabouts, I think. Anyway, this one has acquired the colours of its surroundings in the middle of Nowhere. I wonder how long it has been there. Must have a story to tell. Good photo. Didn't see the original posting, but this one has very natural looking colour.

Andrew

Hello Ian
This is a beautiful old Holden FJ if think - in the Aussie outback, ever heard of the old saying "Old Holden's never die, they just slowly rust away" Nice work and I hope you don't mind but I've used it in my "old abandoned Vehicles" theme.

Hi Ian
This reminds me of one of Mozzy's photos taken near Mungo I think. I love those colours, they look so dry and the landscape looks so vast. Great job, thanks for sharing.

Hello Ian,
A stunning and dramatic image of this great desert and the rusty, abandoned car, imagine that for many years.
Excellent light and sharpness.
Best regards,
Charo
