Photographer's Note
Point Napean was a defence installation, including gun batteries which fired the first allied shots in both WW1 and WWII, protecting the entrance to Port Philip Bay. It was converted to a National Park in 1988. At one stage it was also a quarantine facility. Observation point is the remains of a jetty built in 1879 and used for cattle being quarantined to disembark.

Hi Steve, I just can;t keep away from the Mornington Peninsula, and I'm glad you can't either. The colour-rendering is superb despite the strong sun and I like how you have filled the FG with this interestic tree trunk and then accentuated its effect with the vertical framing. Nice job, TFS, Lisa

I like the combination of colours in this picture. The dead tree stands out really well against the blue sky. Good point of view as well.

Wow, I can feel Father Time whistling past. What superbly weathered timber and bits of trees.natural sculpture presented dramatically thanks to great light, well chosen POV and beautiful colours. Well done. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Steve.
Wow, you really hit the sharpness jackpot with this wide angle beauty. Amazing detail, great luminosity, and superb use of the lens to get the driftwood and rotting post in close-up. Not an easy exposure, either, with the sun reflecting off the light coloured wood, but the CPL helped greatly. It's an absolute classic of a composition, with your low viewpoint making the fence tower over the camera. Supeb.

Andrew

Hi Stephen,
excellent composition. Beaches are sometimes so hard to show in an interesting way. They have a great atmosphere but quite often they are empty. Here you have found a fantastic POV, great idea with the foreground and very well used wide angle zoom.
Congratulations

Hello steve
Amazing detail with great colours and lighting - the driftwood and deteriorating posts seem to be jumping out of my monitor - excellent. There is a very slight ccw tilt. I don't know if this was intentional but it is almost hidden behind this otherwise perfect beach photo. Tfs, Marlene

Hi Steve, This is a really nice shot, the colours, the lines of the twisted tree branches & what is left of the pier, combine well to form an interesting image, without your keen eye & artistic skill it would be seen as mere rubbish or at the very best firewood. Well done,a beautiful image with excellent clarity & textures.
Cheers

Hello Steve
A very nice sharp image with wonderful perspective of all this old wood from the old jetty and the driftwood entangled around the pylon almost as if holding on for dear life. Awesome sky contrasting well with the aqua green sea and yellow sand. Good vertical framing. TFS Peter
