Photographer’s Note
C-17 Globemaster III, Amberley Air Show 2008
This massive aircraft is the Globemaster, one of the Australian Air Force's newer acquisitions, a heavy-weight transporter with the ability to land on short, unsealed runways. Each plane costs over $200 million US to build, so each aircraft is certainly an investment. They are capable of carrying Abram battle tanks in their massive cargo bays. Australia and Canada both own 4, UK 6 and the USA an amazing 185 (Wikipedia). Being based at Amberley west of Brisbane, it is not uncommon to see these huge jets flying low over the city. This particular one was open for perusal to the public, who could walk inside and under the huge engines. I felt the black and white format cut some of the glare out and increased the military feel.

Hello Matthew,
I can only imagine the size of this plane; it look like all the people in this image can fit inside it. Good angle and the conversion to dual tones very effective to increase the mood. The image is sharp but it would be nice to see the colour version as well. Thanks Matt :-)

Hi Matt.
The B&W treatment also adds a nice reportage feel to the shot. Well composed, all the people give a good idea of the scale also. Nice B&W processing. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good week, Paul.
