Photographer’s Note

In October last year I again visited an Amberley Air Show. It is held at Australia’s largest Air Force Base about 40 kilometres southwest of Brisbane. The event takes place over a whole weekend showcasing the awesome aircraft of the Australian Airforce such as the aging crowd-pleaser F1-11 fighter-bomber, the F-18 hornet fighters, Hawk trainer jets, Squirrel, Tigre, Blackhawk and Chinook Helicopters and huge transporter planes including the new C-17 Globemasters. Complimenting the military planes/choppers were an array of historic war planes and we were lucky to see flights of old Canberra Bombers, Hurricane’s and a replica Spitfire. Entertaining the crowd also were also the incredible stunt plane Roulettes and Red Bull trick planes. The parachuters were dropped from a C-130 Hercules plane (I think) and circled the crowd overhead before swooping low and landing. I like how from my perspective the parachute seems to be falling ‘up’ due to the direction of his smoke, but it’s more of an arc sideways. I’ll post more of the air show sporadically.
