Photographer’s Note
A late afternoon photo of the little graveyard of St Katherine's church in Greensborough. The trees are lemon scented gums which have a striking orange-pink colour in autumn, when this photo was taken. The branches have nice curves to them, spreading out over the headstones. A magpie sits on the rail at the bottom of the photo, although it's hard to make out at this scale.
I used a contrast mask in Photoshop to lighten the shadows, which were quite dark in the original image. A polariser helped bring out the colours.

Hi Vincent.
I love the sight of those gum trees - I think this smooth-barked pinkish, the lemon scented, one is my favourite. You captured the autumnal sunshine on the trunks and branches very nicely in this and the photoshop work was worthwhile to reduce the contrast. I see the magpie, but am just wondering what that bell is for. Perhaps it's for calling the worshippers on a Sunday morning, but unusual to see it detached from the church. It's a delightful little graveyard.

Andrew

A difficult one to bring off Vincent but you've done it well. I always find it a challenge with clumps of eucalypts. (Maybe it is your contrast mask that does it).

Ian
