Photographer’s Note

One of my new 'neighbors', hanging out atop a jetty post on the Serpentine River. This guy, along with 20 or so of his other mates, frequents this area each day, around the same time as a local professional mullet fisherman heads off out to the Peel Inlet to ply his trade: the birds wait for him to launch his boat, then follow, no doubt waiting to be fed the catch leftovers. Cooperative fishing at its best!

Hi Jeff.
Just found this one, and it reminded me so much of a photo I uploaded about three years ago, which I took in Fremantle, if you want to have a search for it just for comparison. It was of a pelican preening itself, like this, but standing on a post in the harbour.
Anyway, it's a terrific capture. I presume you used a long lens setting, given that the shutter speed was high. The result is very sharp, and the exposure of the white feathers is excellent. They have very striking eyes, don't they. Great work.
