Photographer’s Note
This was taken at wharton Beach, Duke of Orleans Bay, near Esperance. I arrived there at the time of day when the light takes on that magical quality, and becomes so thick you can almost bite into it, and found the sweeping bay deserted...except for the seagull.

Nicely composed shot. I like the soft lighting - it is hard to capture but you have succeeded, well done.

Hi Serena, your photo fits my mood today perfectly. The light in it is spectacular. The patterns in the sky and sand come alive and the stark black silhouette of the bird matches the mountain range. I also like the really bright spot in front of the seagull. It gives it a sense of hope. I bet this would look great in B&W as well.

This is a very fine shot, Serena! The subtle tones and the highlights cast across the sand are super.
