Photographer’s Note
Rainbow Beach is a coastal town in south-eastern Queensland. The town's name derives from the rainbow-coloured sand dunes surrounding the town. From Rainbow Beach you can access Fraser Island by a short trip on a vehicle ferry.
Double Island Point, pictured here, is a popular destination for 4WD enthusiasts and is located east of town. There is no road access to the point, but four-wheel drive vehicles can go along the beach, either from the township of Rainbow Beach, or the longer way up from Noosa. The point was named by Captain Cook when he passed it on 18 May 1770, "on account of its shape". In 1884 a lighthouse was built on the point.
I took this photo just before sunrise from the roof top terrace of the unit we stayed in at Rainbow Shores Resort. Due to misreading the tide chart, I never got to the point. You can only access the beach by 4 wheel drive when the tide is out. Looks like I will have to take another trip :-)

Gidday Jude, how's things? I've been going cold turkey from your photos (and from TE lately). What a welcome back. The photo is beautifully metered, I love the sillhouettes (one of your strong points I see) and the tones are just superb. I love all that sky with the smaller FG. Great job, Lisa.

Hi Jude,
I've rounded this point a few times on my way to cross Wide Bay Bar to enter the Great Sandy Straights, probably the scariest bar on the East coast.
Beautiful capture, the sunrise colours are truly gorgeous. Love the way you've used the silhouette in the foreground and all that sky. Just caught a tiny sparkle from the lighthouse as well, good stuff.
A really spectacular image, well done.
Regards
Peter

Dear Jude,
Good to see you back, i was already wondering were you've been so long ;-)
But when seeing this, it expains, you were out capturing wonderful light...look at that gradient in the sky..!!!
Composition is perhaps simple, but this is all about light in the sky and the silhouettes in front. Water a touch of blue, horizon straight as it can be...very good.
You really made big improvements campared to your early work...well done..!!!
Have a nice evening,
Henk

Hi Jude, the colour graduation in the sky provides an attractive BG for the silouette of the landscape. Only suggestion I can make is for perhaps slightly less black at the bottom, letting the sky dominate more. cheers, Steve

Hey
Lovely colours here - i like the blue merging into the orange. Also, the tree branches are nicely composed in that part of the frame.

Hi Jude, The split between land and sky works very well, better than a centrally positioned horizon. The colours and the silouetted tree look wonderful. Your beach photos are delightful. Remind me of my youth, running down with a surfboard - happy days. TFS. Murray.

Hello Jude
A beautiful simple sunset. Everything is well positioned and even the sea is a strong blue. Tfs, Marlene
