Photographer’s Note

High tide leaking through barrier at the Royal Botanic Gardens of Sydney. Tides are caused by gravitational forces of the moon and to smaller extent of the sun. Altogether the phenomenon is very complicated, as Wikipedia reveals.

Title The Tide is High, a song by Blondie, from the album Autoamerican, 1980.

Hi Kari,
Maybe Global warming was already taking effect back in 2004. The high tide pushed by what appears to be quite strong westerly wind has created a dramatic effect for your capture. I have made this walk many times but have never seen the water coming through the drainage ports in the retaining wall.
A very good image, lovely colours and excellent clarity.

Aptly titled although now I can't get the song out of my head :-)
Your photo has strong bright colours, I like the way the path curves toward the water. The barrier obviously doing the job it was meant to do.

Hi Kari,
lovely perspective view, and so much water on the road! Really a high tide! Strangely, this water helps to fill the empty space on the road and creates funny patterns on it :) I like the POV and the curve of the road. The very sunny day looks rather hot (judging by the deep contrast).

Hei Kari,
Obviously you have caught a somewhat abnormal high tide during your visit. A good POV and perspective and beautiful summer light and colours. Good depth and clarity.
