Spaceship Landing At Parliament House, a photo from New South Wales, East

Photographer's Note

ENGLISH: this is the fountain in the forecourt of the New South Wales Parliament House. The front facade of the Parliament is quite old, circa 1830, but the rear of the building is very modern overlooking the Domain. And in the forecourt there is this modern fountain which to me looks like an alien landing ship.

ITALIAN: questa è la fontana nel cortile esterno del Nuovo Galles del Sud alla Casa di Parlamento. La facciata anteriore del Parlamento è molto vecchio, circa 1830, ma la parte posteriore del palazzo è molto moderno con vista sul dominio. E nel piazzale c'è questa moderna fontana che per me assomiglia a uno straniero di sbarco delle navi.

Great shot. Abstract in nature, makes you want to keep looking.

I note you have used quite a fast speed. It might be fun to try it on slower speeds such as 1/2 or 1".

Hello Lisa,

What a lovely fountain made of optical fibers, and you have produced and excellent shot. The simple but elegant composition and the light management are complementary aspects of the photograph. The note in two equivalent statements, one in English, the other in Italian, is a Rosetta Stone like gift for us.

Hello Lisa,
I like how you have framed the fountain to produce this very symmetrical image. The exposure is well managed to capture the streams of water and make them look like glass rods.

Hello Lisa,

I was first thinking it was a B&W photo, but not, it is a color photo. The lightning is good to put in evidence the lines of water coming from the fountain.
The framing is perhaps a bit too close by cutting the edges, but the overall composition still works like this.

This is one of those photos I like but I don't really know to explain why. First of all, it shows nothing recognizable and without your explanation I wouldn't even be able to figure out what it is. But it's just so cool and I simply love it.

sometimes its fun to go thru galleries, and see what you did a while ago.
this is my first time seeing this, and its wonderful.
excellent waterfall effect, even at the 160th shutter speed, it looks like a slow shutter speed effect.
