Photographer’s Note
Green Island is off the coast from Cairns. It is a true coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef. Beaches seem to very popular around this time of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. "Centurions" recent posts reminded me of this. Thanks, Radu!
Taken from the pier & polarized. Thorton Peak on the mainland is visible in the distance, about 50 km away. (1500 m).

HI Chris, my mountain pics help you stand the heat, but in return your paradise pics help me hope for the next summer holiday and live with the current weather (2 weeks rain !) It is even possible I was there in 1994, I have to dive (!) into my neg piles to check, I remember I was in Cairns and Townsville and some islands, but not sure anymore, Magnetic should be one of those. Mmmh about the photo for Mr Adam, well the beach traces a nice diagonal that gives depth, but IMO the water side is here better, nice color and clearliness of the water appear well, I find the sand a bit flashy, the trees are fine too, good sharpness and great colors. Superb... gotta check Radu's last delivery now, to continue dreaming... Thanks Chris.

Beautiful beach! As soon as I saw this, I thought of Radu's fantastic shot from two days ago. This is great too - amazing water colour, and nice line of the shore. The green provides good contrast and the person in the shot adds interest.

Linda sequencia de fotografias de praia. Gosto bastante das belissimas cores, especialmente da vegetação e da transparencia da agua. A composição, com a faixa de areia dividindo a imagem ao meio, e muito agradável. Otimo trabalho Chris.

It must be here pleasant take holiday, the blue sky with the small clouds, the green palm trees between the lovely sand and the blue sea. Excellent composition. Well seen Chris.

Yes beach photos are really popular. Especially if they look so beautiful. The sand is a touch overexposed but not very much. Wonderful shot. Is it dangerous to bath there (poisinous animals, the reef with sharp edges)?

So you also have some paradise beaches in Australia, Chris, not only in Thailand. It seems that you are a grat fan of them. Wonderful shot, I guess that you had to step in the water for this shot, very well done.

Well, this sure is ... blue. What a wonderful beach, picture perfect and well framed with the palmtree-covered piece of land reaching into the frame from the left. Great light effects on the rippled water surface, very nice Chris.

Oh greet barrier reef - somehow a wellknown place to me - even I never been even close - but thanks to several TV-programs have I been there - mostly diving. Truly a paradis - and specially after seeing this fine capture - thanks Chris - for sharing this lovely view.
NB- The persons good for the photo to give us the dimension and the feeling of beeing there.

Would we be at the paradise, Chris? Wonderful blue hues given by the lagoon and the sky. I like the saturation of the colors (greenery, ocean, sky). This shot recall me some landscapes in New Caledonia. Haa! When I see the weather in the east of France, these last days, I really want to escape me in Oceania, my friend...Thanks a lot for this little piece of warmth, Chris :))

Great view and perspective, with the beach blending into the clear water. Reminds me of the Maldives. The colours of the sea and sky are almost identical and look just great.

The clarity of the water makes this shot. Plus the perspective of the beach leads your eye towards the distant mountains. The figure on the beach also adds scale to the setting.

Hi Chris- tropical scenery does not get any more idyllic than this, dangerous marine life or not, the water is too tempting to pass by without swimming. (yesterday I forgot to add I will be in Queensland for the first 2 weeks of my trip, Aug 25-sept 8 driving one way Cairns-Brisbane, and I MUST check out this island, your photos are like a travel planner for me these days)
