Byron Bay LightHouse at Dawn Photo

Photographer’s Note

In December 2003 my partner and I got up early to watch the sun rise over the Byron Bay Lighthouse - the eastern most point in Australia. We took this with a Sony Cybershot DSC72 using a tripod. It was an amazing place to stop over for a day!

Very poetic shot, Aaron. Lighthouses has something special, they are like a reference point even for people like me: A inlad sailor that sail everyday over the waves of the everyday live. Greetings from the antipodes and I look forward to see more of your job.

Lighthouses offer moods. This is a unique pic. The angle of the lighthouse leaning towards the moon, beautiful composition. Again, someone else offering something different. Well done.

a great picture Aaron !
Normally, tilted pictures aren't accepted that easy, but in this case it fills the picture in some way. The right half is empty except for the tiny moon, which makes a good counterweight for the huge structure with the big light on the left. The only minor "disturbance" (IMHO) is the blue sphere at the bottom which could be cropped out.

what a nice pic, aaron, so suggestive and so well composed.
colors are soft and the image is really... quiet, and the position of lighthouse is certainly original. i love the color of the night sky.

Very nice composition and I like very much that mysterious atmosphere given by the very early light... It gives a special color to the building, and the dual lights of the lighthouse and the moon are very interesting. A very original point of view and moody feeling. Great job!
