Photographer’s Note
Anyone living in Australia at the moment will be well aware of the amount of devastation that bushfires are causing, in particular in the state of Victoria.
Driving through the northern part of Western Australia, a good 20 to 30% of the landscape was burnt out by fire. A big contrast to the many 'Floodway' signs that litter the roads in low areas. Luckily for the local flora however, they are well adjusted to bushfire, and will hardly suffer from it.

Hi Brendan.
A very nice composition. You really did capture a special scene. The area where the sign is set up doesn't look like it's seen rain for years.
I like the vignette, it keeps the viewer in the shot and it is also a good contrast to the yellow sign.

This is a wonderful photo. I love empty places, scenes filled with abandon and despair. Your title is a clever one and your composition too. I love the centered horizon (goes so well here), the soft focus, the slight vignetting on the sky, the subdued colors. That yellow sign makes all the difference. I could live with this one printed large on my living room. A like it so much!

Hi Brendan,
Impressive scene. Hot weather and draught is quite obvious. The sign is essential for the composition. Vignetting is due to polarizer I guess? Not that it matters at all on the clear sky.

Hi Brendan - quite a sparse image, the bare, burnt land & the sign just sitting there on the roadside. The composition works very well.
I found the 'Floodway' signs somewhat amusing in the outback, where it looked as if it hadn't rained for years! Although as I learned there's reasons for them being there.
P.S. Alanis Morisette reference?

Hi Brendan,
A minimalist but very poignant scene, of desolation, abandonment, oddness, the kind of photography I can never resist. You have captured it here so well, the tonality is excellent and the mood very strong...
