Photographer’s Note
The pier at Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island is used by the local fishing fleet for the loading and unloading of their boats. Located on the south side of the island the bay opens onto the Southern Ocean. Next stop, Antarctica. That's what makes Kangaroo Island such a wildlife haven. It's home to many species including seals and sea lions, whales, dolphins, penguins and numerous migratory bird species.

Hello Steve and Ioana! Oh you made my Sunday morning with a catch from Kangaroo Island. Many years ago I was there myself and I brought great memories back from this place and I sometimes have to laugh about my adventures there, young and stupid as I was. I like the red-brown of the pier against the fair blue waters in the back. I love those two colors together, who knows why. Yes the wildlife is outstanding on this island, truly worth a visit. Take care, enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Barbara.

What fabulous colours! I love those rusty rails, weather worn timber and the gorgeous sea.
Is the shot looking back to Kangaroo Is? It must be a very long pier!!!

I like your diagonal composition and the contrast of colours between the sea and the pier.
Good work

Hi Steve!
This photo has a very impressive perspective and it's one of the elements that make it a special one. The other one is these great colours, the combination of brown-orange and blue-green and the contrast between them is very eyecatching. Congratulations!

Great shot here. Terrific perspective and stunning colours. I went to Kangaroo Island about 10 years ago, but don't remember this spot, although I'm sure I must have been there. What a rustic sort of place it is. One of your best shots, I think.

Andrew

Hi Steve and Ioana,
I think what makes this image is the brown, rusty rail contrasting against the cool blue sea.....seems to work so well together. The diagonal lines of the rail and pier add great depth to the shot, as they draw my eyes to the loading "car". Simple but effective. Well done.
Cheers Grant
