[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The outhouse, (also known as a "loo", "dunny" or "thunderbox" in Australia) usually refers to a type of toilet in a small structure separate from the main building which does not have a flush or sewer attached. Most (if not all) of the early cottages in Australia contained an outhouse, and have therefore become a part of popular culture.

The historic town of Penneshaw, on Kangaroo Island, is no exception, with many historic cottages still existing within the town centre. And as you can see, some outhouses still remain. This outhouse in particular is overlooking the ocean toward Cape Jervis.

Some more information on Penneshaw from Wikipedia:
Penneshaw is a town on the northeast coast of Dudley Peninsula on Kangaroo Island in South Australia, and is the island's main ferry port with regular services from Cape Jervis. Penneshaw features a Maritime and Folk Museum, and evening tours to a colony of the Little Penguin, the only species of penguin to breed in Australian waters.

Please see some of my other photos for more information regarding Kangaroo Island.

hi julian

a fine example of aussie engineering! what would an outback landscape be without the box that holds all kinds of creepy crawlies? you've captured some fine colours and detail. it's a fine pov and a simple composition that works well. good job!

G'day Julian.
Good fun. Great example of an Aussie Dunny. Good composition and colour. I like the road stretching away in the background. Well done.
Regards from Romania. Steve.

hm, i guess i´d rather find myself a bush.*g*
nice capture, julian, i guess this one is
still being used, lloking kind of modern with the metal roof, the window and the pipe coming out of it.
the view looks great - wonderful hilly green countryside - nice for a longer sit-in.*g*
well seen & captured, thor.

Hi Julian,
Lol, good shot and funny too! I really like the composition with the loo positioned on the left and the road giving good perspective. Nice work!
Claudia

welcoming scene from oceana! sharp foto and your good exposure.

Made me laugh that one mate! hehe I really love the GREEN, it's so intense almost surreal but KI does indeed look extremely photogenic after a rain storm or two. Would look good on the cover of a glossy KI tourism brochure :)

Good shot, Julian. I can see you've done your best to use the subject to "hide" the structure behind it. The view looks as if it'd be a good one!

Julian this is a nice picture. The road seem to lead to the right building.
Colours are very good and the clarity allow for details to be clearly seen.
Outhouses are popular all over the world and for some reason we always
see to find something interesting in them. Nice work and thanks Julian.

Hi Julian,
Excellent photo here. Crisp green landscape. Great sharpness, DOF, and POV. Excellent composition showing the road in the distance...makes for a very interesting shot. I didn't know Kangaroo Island was this verdant; Alby Mangels made it seem like a desert. TFS

Bonsoir Julian,
C'est relativement rare de voir des WC sur TE. Moi-même j'en avais posté une photo il y a longtemps. Tu peux voir mon post ;o)
Merci pour cette information amusante et osée.

Hi Julian,
Good for a loo to have a nice view...as long as the opposite is not true, (people in the 'view can see inside the loo!)
Good vertical framing, nice colors and sharp details... and a good idea!

Hi Julian,

Your title caught my attention. There's a public toilets on the beach at Mooloolaba which was always called the loo with a view. Now it's officially known as that. It's also been tarted up some to blend in more with the whole area.
In fact my photo of the moonrise was taken from it. (darn, I don't know how to set up a link!!!)
Nichola

I like the title, notes and of course the photo too. Beautiful setting for an old loo. Would be better if it has a large glass panel to get a panoramic view while doing the business...:-)))

tfs
Alfred
