Photographer’s Note
As time goes by more and more I have all the images I am keeping in my memory of my trip along Australia and Tasmania. I am very proud and so happy to have the possibility to see this echidna in liberty in Kangaroo island, near Adelaide. This is an awesome island where I had the feeling to be in a 'small' Australia. Going to the Seal Bay, suddenly an echidna crossed the path ! Stop; silence; do not disturb the animal! I was really impressed. There are only two egg-laying mammals in the world (Platypus and Echidna) also known as monotremes. The echidnas live in New Guinea, Australia and Tasmania. It's curios the name; is referred to a monster of the Greek mythology. They look like the porcupines. When I remember that moment, I am still excited. It's not the same to see unique animals in a zoo than in liberty, like in Australia and Tasmania. This was the nearest I could capture this incredible mammal.
