[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On the 25th April 1915, the ANZACs, the name given to the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps, landed in Gallipoli, Turkey, in the place now known as Anzac Cove, to fight their first battle under the orders of the British. More than 8'000 Australians and 2'700 New Zealanders died. Now it is a public holiday in both countries and ceremonies are held in Australia, New Zealand, in Gallipoli and in many other countries, even in Vevey, Switzerland to commemorate the soldiers who have fought in all wars.

This photo is of the war memorial on Anzac Hill which overlooks Alice Springs.

Bye the way, if anyone is interested, I'll give you my recipe for Anzac biscuits which are rather delicious.

------------------------------------

Dear Nikki,
thanks for the interseting note,I learned something new at TE.
This is a great shot to remind to this historical event.I like the warm light at the monument and the contrast with this dramatic sky.The image has a great depth with these clouds and the two guys sitting at the balustrade are a good detail.
Enjoy your public holiday,
regads,Leo

Bonsoir Nikki
amicalement
Xavier

A dreaming seen. best time to take such a photo. These memorials were first built in ancient Egypt. TFS.

Hi Nikki,

Won-der-ful light that you captured here. Very nice!!!
And those clouds. Great! And a good note as well. I did not even know that Australia and New Zealand have a mixed army. That's like the Netherlands and Belgium having one army... Nah, I don't see that happen soon ;-)

Greetings!
Dennis

The light and the colours are really very nice and the two guys add life to the picture. It is a good way of remembering the Australian heroes. Thanks.
Antonio

Hola Nikki.
Miguel

Great shot Nikki, you managed fantastic light and a strong composition from this image. Love how this tower leads us straight into that brooding dark sky. Very nice work.

Hello Nikki,
I have been there, and saw Aussie walking towards it if it was sacred ground. For you (and them) it must be a special place, that's for sure. But your picture taken in low light, with a wonderful warm glow over it and an amazing depth is also very special. I have not seen it like this before. The two guys bring life in the image, but i am most impressed about that light....wonderful.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Hi Nikki,
A very eye catching shot here. The tall monument is so dominant against the very dark sky in the background. Very well seen and presented. TFS. Gerald

A beautiful tribute to Anzac Day. The light is fantastic and the monument shows up so well against the dark sky. The image is well composed.

Hello Nikki,

David

Nikki,
what a marvelous light that you got here. Exactly the type of light that we always would like to have to do photography. The golden hue permeates everything and shines amazingly from the memorial contrasting perfectly with the dark sky.
Did you do distortion correction on this here?
Peter

Hi Nikki,
Very nice picture with gorgeous warm colours. The sky is great too. Good note.
Best,
Jeremy

Hello Nikki,
The light & colours do it for me this shot, the monument stands out like a beacon against the dark angry sky, the guys sitting on the railing paying their respect not only adding that human element but also help to capture that ANZAC day feeling.
Well done
thanks
Santo

Hi Nikki,

amazing light here was the first thing that caught my eyes...it´s always a pleasure for a photographer to have cloudy sky in the background and sun in the foreground, that creates great contrast which can be seen here too...

Take care, Ivana
