Photographer’s Note
The ranges to the east of Alice Springs are less visited than those to the west but there is spectacular scenery there as well. This photo (scanned from negative)was taken at Trephina Gorge. No narrow gorge this one but a wide "river" bed (It does occasionally rain) of very white sand backed by amazingly red cliffs (no enhancement necessary) shining in the morning sunlight.

Hi Ian, I've been in Melbourne for a few days, so missed this little beauty. That red rock and its beautiful texture is difficult to pass by even in thimbnail. The FG is slightly over-exposed, but I don't see how you could have still captured the beautiful texture and deep tones of the rock without doing so. Great job, the vertical framing complements the rocks and the gum tree. Best regards, Lisa.
