Photographer’s Note
This is the Fort Hill Wharf within Darwin Harbour. This photo of a navy patrol boat and 3 tug boats is taken from Stokes Hill Wharf within Darwin Wharf Precinct. Due to its proximity to Asia the Port of Darwin is an important gateway to countries to the north such as Indonesia and East Timor.
On 19 February 1942 this area was destroyed by two bombing raids which killed at least 243 people.

Perfect shot... nice water, everything in line... perfect geometrical perspective. Personally, I don't like the red boat in the front, but I'm just being picky :-)

dear Mariene,
blue-green sea and red boat make impressive contrast. and black shadow of boats and wharf enhance this contrast effectively.
the air is very comfortable and the sky looks cheerful,
you captured and expressed the relaxing view of this harbour very well.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hello Marlene,
There is nothing like a red navy patrol boat in the right position on a sunny day. This could have been a neat but somewhat boring scene, but that red little boat makes it a dynamic and attractive composition.

Gert

Hi Marlene,
The point of view takes our eyes toward the end pf the pier which is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The details and colors are clear and sharp. There is a good contrast betwen the the red boat and the color of the sea. Have a nice day.

Hi again, Marlene,
ah - the little red boat! this reminds me of Stockholm... Very refreshing view, very nice and very cheerful. I like it!
The sad moment is the past of this area, of course (as your Note states)!... but as long as we remember the past and the lessons of the past, life goes on!
Kind regards,
Elena
