A ride to nowhere Photo

Photographer’s Note

I am always on the lookout for different subject matter for my photos - and this teddy bear sitting atop a stationary locomotive really appealed. I spotted him recently whilst on holiday in the Northern Territory.

This locomotive 'NSU 63' was built in Birmingham, England but was powered by a swiss-designed Sulzer engine. It was used on the Central Australia Railway between 1956 and 1967.

Today this locomotive sits beside the Stuart Highway and in front of the historic Adelaide River Railway Station in the township of Adelaide River which is 144 kms south of Darwin. In a workshop I will include a full view of the locomotive in its location.

very unusual photo :) I like the teddy-bear ;) Very well composed image (and I also like the WS version, too!)). The locomotive looks like a living being (to me), especially in your main photo. A one-eyed but a bit sly creature which has not lost its energy yet :)

Hi Marlene, this is a very interesting composition and well-spotted. I like the faded colours of the old train against that brilliant blue sky. The vertical frame and cropping were excellent ideas. Great job & TFS, Lisa.

yes, it is a real nice subject, give us a sense of surprise and, at same time, a very nice artistic view. I liekd the light, the pov and the framing, little details like the coat of arms are other strong point here. well done

this picture shows us very ambivalent feeling...
one is cheerful and funny air of the white teddy bear sitting on the old train with lovely mascot mark of animals.
and the other is sad and melancholic ambience of retired train and toy bear those are strangely lighted and shining, and back sky is deep and deep blue.
