Photographer’s Note
Where's Wally? This Wally (in North America I believe his name is Waldo) is not a character who wears glasses, dresses in a red and white striped shirt and blue pants and who hides amongst crowds of little people. This Wally is a wallaby - a marsupial who is smaller than a kangaroo. Appropriately this Wally is hidden amongst the rocks of Simpson's Gap in the West MacDonnell National Park of the Northern Territory.
This photo is a scan of a negative and has always been a favourite of mine. It was taken during a family holiday on the first day of 1997.
PS. It would seem that Wally the wallaby is well camouflaged. In a workshop I have marked his position

This is great. The Roo gives you the scale to an almost abstract presentation.

Hello Marlene,
wonderful shot!:)) Both creative/artistic (looks like an abstractionist painting) and humorous at the same time! I see the little creature - there are his long ears!.... ;) He's looking at us!
Warm greetings from coudy Moscow,

Hi Marlene,
Yes, I found him at last, while looking around every stone here. Quite a different picture, I certainly enjoy the view of all these stones, more like crystals!
Kind regards

Hello my dear Marlene
I tried to seek Wally in your photo very seriously but I could not find it. Anyway very tight framework and nice and comfortable color management, even though trough scanning.
Impressive photo indeed.
Thanks for sharing and best regards.

Hi Marlene,
Good title, giving promise that there's more than meets the eye at the first glance. Cute fella. And interesting terrain with reddish rocks and lots of fetures, pirfect for hide and seek.
Focus seems to be on the foreground rather than Wally, but I guess you had no control on it with that camera.

Hello Marlene,
I am proud to tell you that I spotted Wally right away, but while the photo was slowly appearing on my monitor I was wondering about this strange and different picture. It was more difficult to catch the scenery and get a sense of proportions. I think it's a terrific picture. The colours and shapes of those rocks make the photo look like a cubistic painting. The wallaby provides a surrealistic feeling.

Gert

A nice shot. Looks like a painting.
Though the color saturation is bit high.

hi Marlene
It not for your note, I would not find it so easily. The description about its size helps. I see it among the colorful rocks.
Good scan quality. I thought you are going to show colors of the rocks. A nice capture of such interesting creature.
Good work.

Hi Marlene,
what a perfect mimicry! It took a long time indeed but finally I saw his long ears. A very beautiful and at the same time funny capture (I can understand why you like it).
My compliments!
Warm regards

Hi Marlene
This shot bought back some funny memories for me. I was at Simpson's Gap in 2005 and I remember someone pointing out a Rock Wallaby and everyone trying to find it, you really have to have trained eyes to see them. So I applaud you for 1) finding one of them and 2) for getting this shot. Well done!
Cheers

Hello Marlene,
What a fantastic photo. I did not see Wally until I looked at your workshop. He blends right in. The colors of the rocks contrasting with the bright greens are gorgeous. This looked like an impressionist painting in the thumbnail. Thanks for sharing it.
Kind regards,
Betty
