This photo was taken at about 8pm at night whilst camping in the bush. The dead tree is lit by our campfire.
The moon is shining through clouds that had begun to amass earlier in the day. At around the time the photo was taken, we began to hear thunder in the distance and could see flashes on the horizon. The sky was so big though that the storm didn't hit us until 6am the next morning, just as we were trying to take down our swag-bags and dodge clumps os sand that were being thrown up off the desert floor by the impact of the rain drops.
One of the blokes at a nearby cattle station told us later that it had been the first rain for three years. |
