Photographer’s Note
A close up shot of some of the interesting details created by erosion on Uluru (Ayers rock). I thought this one was interesting because to me it looks like a human head from the side I dont know if you would agree with me.
According to our guide they say that many thousannds of years ago Uluru used to be a big mountain the size of the Himalayas, and eventually through all the erosion and pieces falling off Uluru was all that was left.
The red colour of the rock is due to rust which occurs naturally in the rock. And it is amazing how the rock changes colour depending on the time of day and the weather conditions.

Hi Wanda,
Interesting rock formations but I think that the best here is the strong but very warm light which emphasize all the unusual textures and contrast between the sky and this rock. Australia looks not like other continent but like different planet sometimes,
all the best,
maki

Hi Wanda,
I saw the head before reading your note and asked me, if you tell us about. Well captured. It is really strange what erosion did with the rock.

Well done for spotting these erosion patterns Wanda, I can see the resemblance to a head here.
Your shot captures the stunning colours of this place, and concentrating on this detail has produced something more than the standard touristy shot of the rock.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Wanda,
Uluru is a very mystical place; there is a certain unexplainable energy there that everyone seems to pick up on. This feature is known as the 'Brain'. There seems to be a smaller version of it behind it. The size of Uluru is immense. I know there is no real way you can provide scale here but I know myself that this feature would be several hundred feet high. It almost looks like an ancient hieroglyph of come sort. You have captured the intensity of the desert twin colours well. TFS.

Hello Wanda
So you've been to Australia! I hope you liked it. This particular section of Uluru I call the brain because it looks like an xray of a human skull. Nice sky and well defined image of our rock.
Congratulations TFS and greetings from Australia
Peter
