There is maybe no place more in the middle of nowhere than Alice Springs. I tried to find out in Google: to the North Darwin 1535 km, to the South Adelaide 1648 km. But in these directions there is Stuart Highway and train, to the West - 2000 km to the Indian Ocean, to the East - 1700 km to Pacific Ocean. And nothing between, I mean, no people, no roads. I was fascinated with this real Australian outback. We went for a walk some kilometers from Alice, by the road and then even without any road. We went carefully looking if there were no snakes. It could be somewhere deadly venomous taipan or western brown. But we haven't seen any. We saw many kangaroo droppings but kangaroos are rather evening animals or when there is somewhere water after the rain. In hot day they are hidden.
Alice Springs is the third largest town in the Northern Territory, Australia. Popularly known as "the Alice" or simply "Alice", Alice Springs is situated in the geographic centre of Australia near the southern border of the Northern Territory. The site is known as Mparntwe to its original inhabitants, the Arrernte, who have lived in the Central Australian desert in and around what is now Alice Springs for thousands of years. "Alice" in the English-language was named by surveyor W. W. Mills after Lady Alice Todd (née Alice Gillam Bell), wife of Sir Charles Todd. Alice Springs has a population of 25,186 people, which makes up 12 percent of the territory's population. Alice averages 576 metres (1,890 ft) above sea level; the town is nearly equidistant from Adelaide, South Australia and Darwin.
The town of Alice Springs straddles the usually dry Todd River on the northern side of the MacDonnell Ranges.

Hi neighbour. No sign of "civilization" and a feeling of remoteness here. Fine palette and excellent sharpness. I suppose this part of the world has its own beauty, especially when it comes to the colours of earth, rocks and some of the gumtrees. Pozdrav. Klaudio.

I have had always had a hankering to visit Alice Springs, partly because of the name and partly due to reading the book by Nevil Shute many years ago called 'A Town Like Alice'. I like this composition very much indeed. The lighting and understated tones give it the allure of a watercolour. Very well framed and beautifully presented with excellent clarity.

Hello MAlgorzata ,
MAy be a simple place , but so typical of the australian bush . The composition is splendid with the red rocks , the tall trees , and the elegant clouds . The large version shows us many details .

Ciao e buona giornata

it may be isolated but it does look so idyllic and beautiful. I love this composition so perfectly balanced, with amazing colours under a captivating sky. Glorious imagery!

I think actually Easter Island is the ultimate "middle of nowhere". No human settlement on earth is further away from other human settlements, according to what I have learned.
But this is probably isolated enough to satisfy anyone's need for loneliness. Considering that, it looks very normal. Small trees, a red rock, a beautiful sky. The colours are very good and the light and contrasts are superb. You have done a good PP on this one.

Coz wszedzie daleko, ale na oslode sa tam piekne krajobrazy. Zestawienie koloru skal z blekitem nieba robi niesamowite wrazenie.
Piekne miejsce - pieknie pokazane

Hello dear Malgo - This is right up my street. A beautiful shot which shows off the mood and beauty of the landscape so attractively. The colours, detail and composition are all pleasing to my eye and evocative of the Austrailan outback. Warm regards Rosemary

Ciao cara Itchy Feet
Ahh so beautiful. The Middle of Nowhere is a wonderful place indeed and I'm so glad you got to see it. You truly have gone Walkabout here :) Fantastic, incandescent colours and wonderfully sharp and well-defined textures. The beautiful clouds are the icing on the cake for me.

Perhaps this place this ... in the middle of nowhere, between large areas of that country, but you've captured here a beautiful picture, with strong graphics of these rocks and all dotted with trees, the sky is wonderful and is a great bonus to the composition .
The coloring is splendid and this gives a lot of life to the image.
Magnificent both brightness and sharpness.
Have a good weekend.
A big hug..

to miejsce podobaloby mi sie jeszcze bardziej niz ta sliczna plaza ktora komentowalem ostatnio. Wspaniale zdjecie doskonala ostrosc i przejrzystosc powietrza, mozna niemal poczuc jak ostre sa kamienie. Piekne kolory takie zywe a zarazem jak najbardziej naturalne. Nawet niebo dopisalo z lekkim wzorkiem chmurek.
Doskonala praca. Milej niedzieli,

I spent a year living and working in Australia, and loved my time there. You've certainly caught one aspect of this multi-faceted country perfectly: red rocks, gum trees, mulga scrub and blue sky. And beautifully composed.
Angshu (55669) 2013-07-15 21:32
Two very famous films, notably Walkabout shows us this remote area well. Interesting picture with the boulder stones and the trees up against the nice sky with small cotton like clouds. The picture is beautiful and your personal note attacted me..
