Photographer’s Note

Ricketts Point is a marine sanctuary on Port Philip bay in the south east surburbs of Melbourne. The sandstone rock extends from the shore and supports a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Taken on the first sunny day of the year in Melbourne - or after so many cold wet days it seemed like it.

Hi Steve, diagonal photos usually don't do it for me, but with this excellent shot I'd make an exception. It seems to bring out all the layers of colour so much better. Excellent DOF right fro0m the rock in the FG to the coastline in the BG. Just out of interest, did you crop this at all or was the FG rock so close initally? First sunny day in Melbourne and it's almost November. Let's hope our friend from the Northern Beaches doesn't see your Note :) Have a good Sunday, Lisa.

More left rudder Scotty, I think we're going over.
That's one hell of a tilt, a brave effort. Hmmmm, hard to put my finger on it, but I think it's abstract enough with the way you've used the foreground to set the depth, that the extreme tilt works. I'll be interested to read the critiques as to what others think.
Blue skies in Victoria, hahahaha, you've got to to be kidding, I'll bet you sneaked up to NSW for this one.

I had shot something similar few months back..these still subject often contribute towards adding a strong visual to any beach composition..with shallow dof..the tilt had to be brought into play else the compo..might might have looked flat..

that is an amazing lens ive heard..love to more of it !

The shot is good Steve - great colour and composition but I'm not sure why you chose the diagonal angle - it just doesn't work for me.

This picture screams ingenuity. For someone who has been following your photographic journey this is an interesting move. You're putting the Alpha 700 to some good use.
