Photographer’s Note

This couple are a male and female grass parrot. As is usual in the bird world the male is the more brightly coloured of the pair.

These parrots seem to have returned to the Yarra Bend as the weather has warmed and the grass is seeding. I don't know if they are migratory - but it seems that way

Yarra Bend Park is the largest area of natural vegetation near the City of Melbourne, the landscape varies from steep, wild river escarpments to open woodlands, formal parkland, playing fields and golf courses. It has over 16 km of river frontage, and superb views of the city and the Dandenongs from the higher areas.
