Photographer’s Note
This couple are a male and female grass parrot. As is usual in the bird world the male is the more brightly coloured of the pair.
These parrots seem to have returned to the Yarra Bend as the weather has warmed and the grass is seeding. I don't know if they are migratory - but it seems that way
Yarra Bend Park is the largest area of natural vegetation near the City of Melbourne, the landscape varies from steep, wild river escarpments to open woodlands, formal parkland, playing fields and golf courses. It has over 16 km of river frontage, and superb views of the city and the Dandenongs from the higher areas.

Hi Steve
Nice composition, very narrow DOF realistic colours. Birds are almost invisible in the surroundings, very well camouflaged.
Well done
Peter

Hi Steve,
A couple of cute little parrots, actually to my untrained eye they look like "Budgies".
Nice shot, focus is perfect and the DOF spot-on.
I'll try to add this to your theme.
Regards
Peter
Back again, couldn't find the theme you sent me. bugger.

Hi Steve, will you listen to that heathen Wall? Budgie indeed! The details captured here are superb and I like the blurred DOF. I can even see a light in the female's eye! Or is that a glint? :) Funny, I always thought the female should be more colourful than the male. Seems we're the only species of bird to go against the norm. Thanks for sharing and I hope you're having a good week, Lisa.

A great one Steve,
Good composition, colour and definition - I'd watch out though the moderation nazis might remove it because it doesn't show enough of the world around (I've just had a wild flower one removed).
cheers

Hi Steve
Nicely captured image! The birds are perfectly in focus with the grass just parting for a view of them. I like the natural feel of this shot. It's beautiful with all the grass surrounding them. They look peaceful and in love...
Congratulations,
Tosca
