Photographer’s Note
I did promise that I would post a photo of the koalas when I told you about Santo, Alfred and me doing our utmost to get Bill to see a koala before he returned to Sarawak. He made it his mission to see the real thing and to take photos of a creature that had been on his mind since high school.
We got to the Healesville Sanctuary twenty minutes before closing time, plus the sun was going down. But luck was on our side as the last rays lit the koalas' enclosure and we proceeded to click away.
It was my dear friend Cagla who reminded me yesterday about my promise- so here are mother and the little one for her, Bill (if he still visits TE) and all those who love Australia's unique fauna.
ISO 800 is not ideal, neither is 1/40 sec, nor f/5.6- thank God for Photoshop.
As for the title, it refers to the fact that many things we buy here are made in China, even the toy koalas sold in souvenir shops. These two were definitely not made in China.

Ciao Caro Klaudio, I never get sick of seeing these cuddly little fellas. The shot is beautifully composed and sharp, Photoshop or no Photoshop, I reckon you've done a great job. And Bill will be chuffed! Un abbraccio, Lisa.

Great title Klaudio! Although I thought for a fleeting moment that you were going to say in your note that you had to go to China to take this shot.
And pretty good shot, without any evidence of the high ISO. The koalas must have kept nice and still for your 1/40 shot. Terrific shot, which gives the impression you are a good tree-climber as well as photographer.

Andrew

Incredible, they are like cartoon characters, so sweet and charming. I also would very much like to see those creatures and I feel lucky now, this is my way of travelling the world, like many others visiting this site. I'm lucky because for the last 20 minutes you caught the light probably just before they go to sleep. Thank you for keeping my request and making me feel happy today, by sharing them. Your POV is excellent, the baby looks he feels safe with his mom. Have a nice day.

Hi Klaudio,
Very natural looking setting. The smaller one looks playful. Good tight framing. Well done on low light.
All toys seem to be made in China nowadays.

Hi Klaudio
Excellent catch despite the failing light. A typical baby trying to tease his mother. I really like the placement of these two as it displays their interaction. I tried to get a Koala in the wild when I was in Aus but they do a lot of snoozing and he was too high in the branches for an effective shot.

Dragi Dado,
voleo bih ovog divnog stvora da sretnem lično. Ti si imao tu sreću i podelio si je sa nama. Opet osveženje posle tvoje divne crno-bele serije sa ovih prostora. Nadam se da se raduješ proleću i letu. J u tvoje ime. Puno te pozdravljam prijatelju,

Hi Klaudio,
Lucky for you these fellas are pretty slow movers if and when they do move, mind you I've seen you hand hold amazingly sharp images at much slower shutter speeds than 1/40th.
I hope Bill gets to see this, it's a classic.
Cheers

Ciao Klaudio,
molto bella questa scena, i due koala sono bellissimi, nonostante gli 800 iso hai ottenuto una qualitŕ eccezionale dell'immagine.

Hi Klaudio, Good original POV looking down rather than up is a good thing with the result you achieved. The small bear on the right is most appealing. Good texture of fur. TFS. Murray.

Ciao Klaudio, Great title, no made in China tag on these cute little buggers. Light was beginning to fade but a good result, nice natural colour which I know is important to you & excellent detail. I hope Bill has one as good as this, he would be fully satisfied.
Cheers

Aren't they cute?!?! Interesantno je sto je slika puna lisca & grana a koale su opet tako jasno vidljive, nicim zaklonjene i definitivno privlace paznju. I don't think there is a person who doesn't like koalas and who doesn't go 'Ooooo' every time it sees them on the photo....

Hello Klaudio,
This is particularly nice as you have the baby facing towards you and he seems to be grabbing the leave with out stretched arm. The exposure is good despite the low lighting condition on that day. Thank you again for doing the talking at the ticket booth, to get us in free.
In fact I saw this shot when I was still in Melbourne. I noticed that the leaves have strange colours. I was thinking it may be due to my LCD, but now I am in Kuching I still see the same colours. Perhaps, you may want to check or re-calibrate your LCD monitor if you dont mind me saying. Alternatively, try viewing the same photo at another computer to see if the colour is what you want.
Take care
Alfred
