Photographer’s Note
Walking to Squeaky beach from Tidal River in the Wilsons Promontory National Park you come across this well-developed tafoni (weathering cavern). Tafoni are found chiefly in igneous rocks (although they can occur in sedimentary and some volcanic rocks too). There is some debate about how tafoni form, but most theories revolve around water entering the rock mass, evaporating and hardening the upper surface while leaving the lower surfaces more prone to weathering (thanks to Cooperative Research Centre for Landscape Environments and Mineral Exploration)

Hi Steve, even in this "Victorian Light" :) the colours are just wonderful. The sea contrasts beautifully with the amazing colours and shapes of the rock. I also like how you've framed the shot, with the rocks forming part of a natural frame. TFS and enjoy your week - hope you've recovered from the Brass Monkey's weather of Warandyte :) Warm regards, Lisa

Nice shot of this cold and southerly scene. The rock colours are interesting and balance out the blues everywhere else in the scene.

A beautifully composed and managed photo Steve,
I haven't been there for quite a few years but this photo does Wilson's Promontory proud. Great rock colour!
I hadn't come across your photos previously but in looking through your shots many great ones - keep them coming.
cheers
Ian
