Photographer’s Note
I was taking photos of a small group of Pelicans at Ricketts point , getting progessively closer. Eventually they got nervous and took to the air, giving me this shot.
taken using a 1.4x teleconverter

Wow, It looks more like a painting. Did you use any workshop tool to get that effect? Great.

Perfect capture. You have frozen the movement perfectly. The eye of the bird is particulary interesting. An eye-catching eye !

Hi Steve.
Fantastic action/wildlife shot, so incredibly sharp even with a teleconverter. Really astounding work. I used to be taken to Ricketts Point for a swim on hot days when I was a boy, but haven't stopped there for a couple of years now, even though I often drive past. It's a nice spot on the bay, still suggesting natural forces even though it's part of suburbia.

Andrew

Hi Stephen. I wonderful action shot, superbly sharp and beautifully lit. Great details, including that eye which seems to be looking at us. Nice yellow tip on the beak too.As a person who loves birds, I enjoy looking at this fine shot.Actually, I was thinking of getting a teleconverter but was told that one losses details. Looking at your shot, i am not so sure. Would you recommend it?Regards. Klaudio.

What a beautiful shot of the pelican in flight. We usually see them in the water or stood around on the ground. Wonderful detail here.

I can see that this is not an easy shot. But you have got it well with good lighting using your f/2.8, and sharpness excellent.
Santo told me he met up with you. Hope to see you the next time I am in town.
