Photographer’s Note
Last Friday, March 7, I met daddo in Melbourne's central business district for a coffee and the possibility of a few shots. As it turned out, the weather was startling, almost too bright for our modest skills by the time we'd walked across the Yarra River to the Southgate area, just in time to see this couple having their wedding shots taken on the pedestrian bridge across to the north side of the river. Behind the bridge, is one of Melbourne's landmark buildings, the Flinders Street railway station. From the blurry leaves you can see that the European trees think it is already Autumn; this is a feature of the great drought that has afflicted this part of the country. The leaves don't usually turn gold and drop until the end of March.
I cannot say if the use of this bridge for wedding photos has become a common practice, but it's the first time I've seen it!

Hi Andrew,
I don't know what is behind the married couple, but I think you've found yourself a good point of view, with the superb landmark building in the back. With the blurred leaves that frame the scene, it looks even better.
Cheers!

Hallo Andrew!
A beuatiful and inventive photo! The contrast between the different architectures is amazing here - and it is emphasized very well by the light conditions. The young couple is a wonderful addition!
Greetings from stormy but springlike Germany!

Hello Andrew,
I like the eclectic mix of architecture in this composition. The framing of the happy couple through the bridge arch works very well. Very good colours and clarity.

Hello Andrew,
I like this viewpoint with a little bit old history and a bit new structure in the foreground. What a strange bend in that bridge! Remarkable!!
I do like the blurry leaves. They help to create a nice depth to the whole composition.

Hi Andrew,
This a is nice composition picture with a lot of details and attrating item for eyes. The leafs in the foreground and the building in the background. I think, if the sun is your back when you captured this picture can improve a lot as the photograph on the bridge had!

Hi Andrew,
Here is a quite original place to make a photograph of marriage!!! Pretty point of view on this interesting and coloured architectural unit. The light is really appreciable. I like the vegetable parts which gives a romantic aspect to the image. Well seen Andrew.

Hi Andrew, this is a change from your norm, a wedding shot. I have, and I've seen a lot of shots of this bridge, complete with the Flinders Station and the multi coloured building (don't know what the name is) behind it. I've never seen it from this position though. I like how you have the clock tower seen over it, complete with the action on the bridge itself. The trees, even though heading into their fall dress help complete this shot with the cover provided in each of the upper corners. Great exposure throughout; you handled that extreme brightness you talked of very well.
Thanks, John

This is a great shot Andrew. I really like the way you have filled the frame with the curve of the bridge. Great sharpness, and the overhanging leaves in the foreground give it a nice balance.
cheers

Hello Andrew,it wasn't obvious until I opened the thumbnail just what your title referred to;but the wedding couple are an ideal focal point.
Excellent composition with the curve of the bridge highlighting the happy couple.
There are some interesting buildings with contrasting patterns and features.
Well managed light and the leaves in the fg are a good frame.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hello Andrew,
Well, the couple couln't have stood in a better place if you had actually asked them to pose for you! The archway draws attention to them and really creates a good focal point!
There are some lovely detailed buildings in the b/g which are worth attention, whilst he blurred leaves make an interesting border.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Andrew,
Great decisive moment capture of the iconic kiss. The yellow trim on the old clock tower is wonderfully complimented by the silver and blue sky. The modern arch makes a striking modern contrast to the 19th century red and yellow rail station.

Hi Andrew,
Good combination of different elements and architectural styles in your composition. I like the graphical contrast between the beautiful geometry of this bridge and the buildings in background.
The photographer capturing the kiss of the couple of grooms, and the green and shining leaves forming a frame to the scene they are fantastic.
Great work.
Best regards,
Josep

Hi Andrew,
It's an amazing co~mpo, combining all those architecture shapes of the bridge that looks like a modern sculpture and the buildings on the BG. The blurred and shining leaves make a nice frame, and enhance the great depth produced by the bridge, its placement and its shape, by introducing another layer. The wedding scene adds a nice touch of life and humour.
Regards, José.

Hi Andrew, A really nice photo opportunity, the bridge would have been nice in itself, however the clock & the railway station also look very picturesque &, what a bonus to have the wedding couple in a great position, the overall composition is very good with the leaves hanging down &, if the light was too intense you have managed it superbly, kind regards Wilson,

Andrew,
very interesting bridge, and its curved lines make the picture more interesting! The depth of field is great, with the inclusion of the trees on the first plane. Beautiful composition!

Bonjour Andrew
Amicalement

Hi Andrew,
A well captured moment in the everyday life of a big city, with the newlywed couple enjoying their intimate moment surrounded by people passing by and tall office buildings.
Although the leaves in the corners are blurred, which is usually not a nice detail, but here it gives an impression of observing the scene through a frame.
Regards,
Vedrana

Hello Andrew,
Your photograph is a masterpiece of using frames for composition and should be used in a photography textbook as an example. You not only framed the young newlyweds under the arch of the bridge, you also framed the bridge with the leaves. The architecture is also nicely placed in the background. A fabulous image of this beautiful city!

Hi Andre, I liike the placement of the clocktower away from the centre of the arch. It looks very similar to some of the many bridges in Singapore. Good presentation. TFS. Murray.
