St. Kilda Sunset, a photo from Victoria, East

Photographer's Note

People are drawn to sunsets all over the world, especially by the sea. Maybe it has to do with the realization, even if it's subconscious, that all things come to an end. Usually, as the sun sets, a hush falls over the crowd- a moment to wonder, to dream, to feel, perhaps to dream.

Taken at the St. Kilda Pier. Before you is the kiosk which has been rebuilt after some idiots set fire to it. Behind the kiosk is an breakwater made out of giant granite blocks and there, believe it or not,is where "home" is for a small colony of fairy penguins that moved in in the 1970s.

Hello Claudio. Yes, the sun is an emotional thing for the people. Especially the sea, the sun shines truly "go under". This is a special psychological moment. But it is certain that the sun will appear again the next morning. It's a fascinating cycle of nature. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Hi Klaudio, I do not know if it is a feeling of the end, as with the sunrize it is just the beginning but the visual impression is similar. Only easier is to observe sunset, specially in summer days. Delightful shot, not only the view of the sun and clouds, but also this pier so wonderfully lit, with a great depth and some human touch. Superb composition.

Excellently composed photo with teriffic light and great sunset. The pier walk leads the eye nicely to the building and also to undergoing sun. I like the color of the water slightly touched by the sun. Very well done!!!!

Tungjatjeta Klaudio, Fotografi shume e bukur! Beautiful photo. In particular I like the lamp post, very well placed. The couple on the right balance the photo well, the colours and sharpness are also stunning. The pier looks very English to me! even setting fire on them is common in the UK!

As for the sunset well as you say it marks the END! Sunrise and Sunset these two most important markers of time. Until recently people would wake up at about Sunrise and go to bed at Sunset.

This pier is awesome and the way you are presenting it under such light makes it even more spectacular.

Good balance between the structure and ocean, with the sun placed close to the edge. I like that.

Hi dear Klaudio,

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see the sunset scene which the sun is just sinking to horizon and a nice pier facility. It's effective that the pier road is centrarized toward the lovely house. And, some visitors on pier draw out an additional good atmosphere in this image. Very romantic photograph!

I like watching sunsets in St Kilda and your picture conveys the peaceful mood of the esplanade. An interesting POV that works here very well. Lovely soft light and reflections. I will be heading there with my camera soon!
