Photographer’s Note

Taken in Yarra Bend Park in the company of the Melb TE mob. This is a eucalypt with the muddy Yarra river in the bagkground. The Yarra is affectionately known as the river that runs upside down, as the mud is on the top (I'm sure it's on the bottom too - but who'd be game to find out).

Typical colours of the Australian bush, no bright greens and blues for us, muted grey greans, brown and reds are what we find.

Nice composition, like a mixture of a painting and a collage. Natural colours always seem to go well together, whether Australian och Western.

I was just about to go to your intro page when this popped up in the gallery! You'd hardly know it was a miserable rainy day, from the colours of the gum's trunk and the pale light reflected in the breeze-rippled water which makes a great background. Yes, those colours are absolutely typical and representative. Lovely to see in this simple but striking composition.

Hi Steve,
When I moved down to Melbourne to live in the early seventies I remember one of the locals telling me that the Yarra was the only river that was too thick to swim in but too thin to walk on, I think he was right.
Don't Gums have the most beautiful colours, the golds, grays and browns on the trunk and limbs are fantastic.
A superb capture, yes, the colours of Australia presented perfectly.

Hello Steve,
A stunning simple composition, extremely sharp and rich colours. These natural colours had influenced the artists, painters, paint manufacturers and designers in their choice of colours which make Australia unique. A fine piece of work.
