Photographer's Note

I was on business in Australia and taking a weekend off by going up to Horsham in the Grampians north of Melbourne. (I love the odd comparison of where places with the same name are in England - the grampians are the wild, high mountains in Scotland and Horsham is a leafy market town near my home in the gentle hills of the south.)

On the way we stopped to a rest break and I was intrigued to see this child playing hide and seek with what may well be a wallaby rather than a kangaroo - does any body know? It was only when I was back home that I spotted the baby in the pouch (a joey?).

It was such a memorable event for me and this picture reminds me of the strange animals and the bright outdoors life most Australians seem to lead. Fantastic.
Again taken with my old Chinon cheapo manual SLR, the framing wasn't great and the contrast was rather severe. I've cropped it and backed off the contrast a bit in PP.
