Photographer’s Note
This winding road is the Great Ocean Road.
This senic road runs between Torquay and Warrnambool in Victoria, Australia. It can be split in two parts if you look at the landscape. Between Torquay and Cape Otway you drive on the slopes of the mountains just above the Bass Strait/Southern Ocean. In this part you get a new surprising view after every corner. I posted two other views in the workshop, a scenic one and one of a beach.
On the part between Cape Otway and Warrnambool you drive a bit more inland on the flats. This is also where you find the 12 Apostles and the Bay of islands.
The Great Ocean Road was built between World War I and World War II by returned servicemen in honour of their fallen comrades. The road took 16 years to build and it was all done by hand using picks, shovels and dynamite.

Hoi Harko,
Mooie slingerende weg goed benadrukt door de compositie en scherpte in je foto. Wat een geschiedenis ook aan deze kant van Australie is er dus heel wat bloed, zweet en tranen geplengd om zulke mooie wegen te maken.

This is a great shot taken from a low POV. I like the way the road goes around the mountain. I have done it many times when I was living in Melbourne. I like Lorne and the Otway Ranges. The other two pictures on WS are magnificent too. Well done.

Hi Harko, excellent composition with this road. You have selected your shot well. Besides that you have taken it with very good lighting throughout providing us with very good colour and detail. Someday I've got to get me to this road, to see your 12 Apostles and Bay of Islands.
Thanks, John

hi harko,
i like road shots, this is a good'un. the curves of the road give the shot a dynamic feel, adding to an otherwise average kind of landscape, cheers, jez
