Photographer's Note
There is probably a photo from this place uploaded every few weeks to make it the Australian version of Niagara Falls, but I uploaded it now because, as of yesterday THIS VIEW NO LONGER EXISTS. The apostle in front collapsed to the ocean, so there are now only 8 Apostles. Here is the link to the BBC news article.
WS version shows the apostles taken the following morning with direct light.
I am several pages behind in responding to critiques, and did not intend to upload a photo until Friday, but I hope this is news that teaches us about the earth.

Oh yes! The light at this time of the day, as well as the climatic conditions gives to this photograph a single attraction. Absolutely splendid! I envy you to be able to visit all these incredible places. TFS.

Hi Tan, yes this really caught our eyes yesterday when we saw it on a news site. My wife is from Victoria, her family is there and we go back all the time. I'll have to hunt up one of my own and post it too although yours is much better, with excellent light, and a very cool mist between the rocks.
I read that there were people out there, one group of which was taking pictures seconds before it fell. I can't help but imagine what it must have been like to be a tourist standing there looking at something 40 million years old, and you came a long way to see this. Then you raise your camera, shoot... and it crashes into the sea. I think I'd feel responsible!

I don't think I've yet responded to an Apostle pic so this is perhaps timely before they all start disappearing! The light here is fantastic and I love the deep shadows and almost other worldly feel to this image - I like the perspective of both images you've posted and the well thought out compositions.
best wishes Kev
ps The landscape near Lyme Regis in the UK called the Undercliffs is a startling reminder of how spectacular a big cliff fall can be - it stretches for some distance and is the site of massive undercliff erosion. This is where the film The French Lieutenants woman was filmed. I just googled it and came up with a forgotten haiku I wrote!!

Merhaba,
Great photo making a great point: We must take advantage of of the earth's beauty while its here. I was in Paracas Peru a few weeks ago and they said the same thing, that the amazing rock formations were slowly falling to the sea. Nature gives it, nature takes it away.

Since I learnt that I was waiting for somebody to post a photo of the 8 Apostles left, yours isn't is't and "old" one but it's beautiful I like the orange tones of the rock, your WS is also very good one. You seem to had a beautiful light there, my photo were taken nearly at dusk at a misty moment. Well done Tan

This is one of the very best shots I've seen of the Twelve Apostles, Tan, either on or off TE. The light is magical, the pov perfect. Excellent work. I hope no more of them crumble away too quickly! Of course more will eventually form from the limestone coast, but it takes time...)

Hi Tan
I may post my old shot of London Bridge (also in this area), before it, too, collapsed. (I went there in the 1980's). There were tourists stranded out on the new island, who had to be evacuated by helicopter!
A fantastic & now historic view of the 12 Apostles. Well done!

Very well known and always impressive view to see of the apostles.
I can't tell you which one I like most, this one or the WS. both ones are great and have a very beautiful light, this more warm, the ws very clear. Being very exigent, maybe this one has too much contrast between the bright top left corner and the darker right top corner, but I know it is scanned. This is really a very beautiful natural place, and you captured all its beauty perfectly.
I didn't know that about the fall of the first one! Nature has a great force! and always imprevisible. Thanks for showing us this great shots.

Tan, this is a stunning shot. The colours, the contrasts and the misty effect are all fantastic. Like you I have a shot of the "old" view and wonder if I should go back again for the new view.
This is erosion in action - the stacks must have been standing for tens of thousands of years and then one falls over - this is like witnessing history happening. Bizarrely one of the arches of "London Bridge" collapsed a few years ago. These two events happened within a second of each other on the global timescale. Weird.
