Photographer’s Note
The southern coast of Victoria skirts from Melbourne to Adelaide, with a variety of terrains along the way. Near Port Campbell, the coast is rugged and rocky, the sea having broken away craggy cliffs over a long period. From this coast, looking across the grey blue Great Southern Ocean, the next land is Antarctica.
One deep inlet here is Loch Ard Gorge. It's a bit like a small fjord and it's named after a ship that wrecked here long ago. All were lost at sea and 52 were found here on this beach.
Converted to B&W using the channel mixer in PS, contrasted the sky seperately from the rocks and sand, and added some grain to the land portions.

Hi Clifton ,
I really like the atmosphere here.
Very beautiful compo with the feets leading into the picture.
Your PP is really good which adds some grain to the pic.

superb shot, obviously the landscape is spectacular, but what really takes this shot to another level are the footsteps.
Nice harsh bw.

Very good composition Cliff! I esp like the footsteps. The BW is good, but I think you overdid the noise a little bit, plus the amount of noise in the sky is much less than the ground. Another thing to watch out for is when you make selections to remember to feather the edges or the dividing line b/w the separation is evident, as it is here with the rocks and sky.
Overall a nice image. Good work Cliff!

I like the grainy, old fashioned feel to this one, Clifton. Where the rocks meet the sky is a bit sharp; perhaps feathering 1-3 pixels would make that seem more natural. Leading lines made by the footprints work very nicely here, and the tones and contrasty rocks make this one special!

Hi Clifton. I like your decision to go to b/w because we can focus on the bare essentials of this shot like the composition and textures. The sharpness seems nice and high too. Nice one!

Hello Clifton,
You picked the very right spot of this dramatic coast. I saw heaps of boring - just another 12 Apostles pic - and to be honest - I never succeeded to take a remarkable one at this place.
Good to see someone did better - you did.
Great scenery and compo. Very good!
Thomas
