Photographer’s Note
Trip to Tasmania – Day 5
Hobart to Bruny Island – 100km along the Huon and Channel Highways and a ferry across D’Entrecasteaux Channel.
These are the last photos of day 5. It was a full day of excitement which included four hours of stunning views of impressive rock cliffs, high speed pursuit of albatrosses and dolphins, sea cave entering, etc, etc.
Before leaving Adventure Bay I took a picture of the beach (WS1) and on way back we stop in the middle of the isthmus for a quick visit to the man made belvedere from where we can have a superb view of the isthmus itself and of South Bruny Island. That view is in the main posting. The two smoke columns were the result of some controlled burning made by the forestry services.
Finally, have a look to WS2 and tell me what you can see. In a way of a hint, it is some form of wild life I am looking for!

Amazing shot. The composition of the track (beach) used to drive the look up to the mountains is very spectacular, great POV and depth. The beautiful lights adds a lot to the relaxing mood. Excellent presentation!

Hi Antonio.
Great viewpoint for a photo in perfect light!
Those plumes of smoke look like volcanoes from a distance. The shot is well exposed and has a fantastic viewpoint. Of course I can make out some form of wildlife in WS2, but I think it's the kind I keep away from.
Anyway, great work, and a breathtaking scene. What a lovely strip of beach.

Glad you included the people to set the scale. It is a magnificent scene, excellent colours. The bright reflection from the smoke gives meaning to the long 'walk' for the eye along the curving beach.
I think I can see a large turkey-like bird in the WS, stretching its neck over the little path on the right?
Best wishes,

Hi Antonio,
The beautiful beach line leads our eyes to the smoke columns, which remind me of the forest fire in your country before reading your note. The smoke that brings always a big impact and the attractive isthmus have been very well composed with an excellent image quality.

Hi Antonio, A quick google search of Bruny Island provides a list of wildlife that lives there - but none of these can I see in the WS image. On the Bruny Charter website, I see an image similar to yours, except that yours is better. Theirs has a strange green cast, and the columns of smoke add an interesting focal point on yours. Could it be that the animal in question is under the water, a whale perhaps, only the ripples in the water visible??? Or perhaps its a giant stick insect, concealed in the undergrowth...

Hello Antonio,
What a splendid view, and so beautifully captured.
I love it, one of your best, congratulations.
So, an animal in WS2. I thought maybe it could have been a Dolphin in the water just above the line of grass or possibly something in the grass, but when I was staring at the image looking at nothing in particular it seemed to me that the line of hills ending with the small headland in the sea looked like the head of a crocodile, promise, I was sober when this occurred to me, not sure this is what you were after.
This is a wonderful capture in every way.

impressive 3D-feeling from this picture of yours! The landscape is marvellous and even better rendered thanks to the POV. It is interesting the difference in tone between the water surface at the left and at the right of the Isthmus. Thanks for posting: I can travel through you images. Ciao, Dario.

Dear Antonio
Your small picture looked ordinary, but then I clicked it, what a surprise, this is a great shot. Not only the curved almost endless beach but also these 3 steamers possibly hot springs at the horizon. The different shades of blue in contrast of the reddish-whitish beach add vibrancy to your picture. DOF and sharpness are excellent. Well composed and well done

Gidday Antonio,
sorry to tell you that nobody can critique or comment on the crocodile head in your WS2. So I came back to tell you my honest admirance for this stunnig view. How much did you pay for the forestry guys to ad the smoke to your compo? I wonder why you chose F4.5 for such a great landscape. OK it is sharp but F13 or higher are usually more detailed and recommended for landscapes. Great experience, good notes and wonderfull views that you are sharing with the world on TE. Thank you. Have a good day,

Hello Antonio, A fantastic view & well captured.I wondered what those clouds of smoke were, that is before reading you note, it was soon revealed. I looked at the WS for quite a while trying to work out the wildlife but it wasn't until I read your note to Andrew that I was able to see it, perhaps I lack a little imagination, once you pointed it out it was obvious.

Great landscape shot. POV is excellent. Very intersting area you have shown us. The controlled burn certainly put some haze into the sky. I worked hard on the WS2 quiz - however came up with nothing till I cheated and surfed around and read phwall comment (I don't believe he was sober).

Cumprimentos. Domingos
