Harvesting was well under way the day that we visited Brdestowe Lavender Farm.
Bridestowe Lavender Estate, at Nabowla, Tasmania is considered one of the State's most spectacular vistas during flowering in December and January.
The 265 acre site is noted for its manicured fields of lavender, beautiful gardens and sophisticated tourist facilities and attracts visitors throughout the year.

une très intéressante façon de montrer la lavande.
La présence du tracteur avec ses roues rouges est original et donne vie au paysage.

An interesting scene here with good graphical layout created by the flowers lines captured in the foreground. Love the intensive lavender tones which contract beautifully with the brown colors to build a really lovely scene. Well done!

often wondered how they harvested lavender and this has answered my question. Looks a bit drastic but again fascinating. A great before and after image that gives us a superb idea of events. Can almost smell the aromas that must be so strong at this time. Wonderful image and balanced composition.
Enjoy your weekend - Brian.

A pity that we not can smell, the fantastic aroma of the lavender.
A very well image with the tractor in full speed working on the field.
Nice perspective and depth picture.
You chose a very well angle, excellent composition
Very well done, TFS.
Have a great day ahead,

Lavender is not something I associate with Australia, though I suppose the climate is not unlike Provence in Southern France where it is also grown in abundance for the perfume industry. You have composed the shot very well using the unharvested lavender as a frame and the nicely placed red tractor as a foil for the lilac tones. The image is pleasantly lit and has superb colours and sharpness.

Les belles rangées de lavande poussent le regard au loin dans l'image vers le bout du champ ou le tracteur s'active et lève de la poussière. Le ciel et la lumière sont très doux.

Your love of tractors brings us another very attractive photo. Contrary to many TE pictures of lavender fields the lovely plants are reduced to just one ingredient of several in this photo. I find the tractor, the tree and the sky just as attractive. You have used the parallel lines of lavender very cleverly to lead us into the composition. The colours seem to have benefitted generally from the beautiful soft light.

Great catch !! I will like beeing in South of France (Provence) with lavenders !
So you have lavender in Australia too ?
I love this composition, the brown tones are excellent and the flashy colorful red tractor is just perfectly placed in the composition

Good Evening Les - This is a very special shot. Not only do we see beautiful rows of lavender (which contrast so well with the rich soil) but you have that bright little tractor kicking up dust too. A fabulous composition with layers of texture, colour and detail and all the elements are finely balanced. This is surely one of your best! A pleasure to see. Warm regards Rosemary

That colour combination of dry brown dirt and purple lavender is quite special. It is also always interesting to see special farming equipment. I guess that machine behind the tractor is specially built for lavender harvesting?

this is a fantastic picture. the composition is superb and you have placed all the elements superbly. the lines of lavender are very impressive and appealing. the placement of the tractor is an excellent addition and completes the picture.

This is a fabulous photograph, full of so many interesting features and a lovely array of glorious colours!
Your composition is superb, the bright purple rows of flowering lavender dominating the foreground (and lower third), the horizontally disposed rows on darker earth making up the mid ground (and middle third) with the bright red tractor perfectly placed and nicely balanced by the tree on the right - all surmounted by a wonderfully interesting sky.
Glorious light and colours, excellent and pleasing composition, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

I remember these lovely lavender fields. The purple tones are so luminous and I like how the rows of lavender lead the eye into the centre of the frame. The cloud patterns are really attractive too, providing another textural element in the image.
Thanks for sharing, have a wonderful day

Good work: beautifully framed/composed, and good saturated colours, without being over-done, which seems a popular activity on this site! I didn't know that lavender was grown in Australia.
mkamionka (27051) 2013-11-03 13:50
very attractive composition with the rows of the lavender being perpendicular to other lines here. It seems like the end of the lavender fields but the tractor and the lone tree add a very nice touch here. Great colors and lovely sky.
