Photographer’s Note
This is a photo of a shearer at Jondaryan Woolshed in south-west Queensland, about 2.5 hours west of Brisbane. The sheep he is shearing weighed 110kgs and was shorn at a leisurely pace of about 2 minutes. As mentioned in my previous posting, Jondaryan is the oldest working woolshed in Queensland, operational since 1853.
In my Workshop is another POV of the shearer and a wider view of the woolshed.

Hello Lisa,
A good daily life image with a fine sense of dynamism. The composition is well framed and the main subject is nicely lifted from the background. Good colours and sharpness.

Nicely done - with a good bit of movement to add to the effect.

Ciao Lisa, concordo con Luciano circa la fortuna che hai avuto nel fare questa foto.
Una di quelle che io amo tanto poter fare e inserire nel mio prossimo tema: "Men at work".
Grazie per questa bella condivisione!

hi Lisa,
the slight movement blurr adds just the right accent to this photo, and fits well with what I've read about shearing. I might prefer background more out of focus, but that's not a major point, the background is not too distracting. interesting photo, I like it.
best,
Kristine

Click go the shears boys, click, click, click.
Ah reminds me of my days as a Jackeroo.
Noice, good movement, I really feel as if I'm watching him shear the big fella.
Cheers

Hi Lisa
I notice your photos are the first of the Jondaryan Woolshed on TE - must be so many destinations not just in Oz but throughout the world which are not yet represented here. A great action shot with the wool falling off. Pity you didn't capture 2 hooves also I trust you meant 2.5 hours WEST of Brisbane! Tfs, Marlene

Ciao Liza,
a scene that i have seen it in cinema with the sheep to be shearing from these experienced men. What a pity to have not put on your camera a quicker time,1/350 seconds for example,to pause the movement of the sheep.
Regards,Danos

Hi Lisa,
And now I see the action! Long exposure time is perfect for showing fast and talented moves of the shearer. Really well done. It must be darker there than it seems as aperture is so large and ISO at 1600.

Hello Lisa,
hard work, really hard work. great capture of the moving action. Not easy because this guys are really fast at work. I love your picture of the woolshed in sepia, it looks like from the "good old time" ;-))
Thank you very much for sharing and have a great day

Hello again, Lisa,
What a topic you have depicted for us! Great capture of this old trade and a man in action. In terms of composition, I like how his entire body and that of the sheep form a triangle, with his arms and the sheering tool (I'm sure it has a name!) and the line of the cut forming another, smaller one, within it, drawing the eye to where the action is. Good choice of shutter speed, in my opinion: the man and the sheep are still, only the arm and the falling fleece in motion. Hugs, Dasha
P.S. My canoeist frind left the Sydney Masters Games with 8 golds in his pocket!
