Photographer’s Note
This is a photo of the Heritage listed Urangan Pier located at Hervey Bay, Queensland. The pier is 720 meters long and was built in 1917. It was built with a train line running the length to export sugar cane which the area is known for. It is no longer used for this purpose and has been restored by the council keen to preserve a part of Hervey Bay's history.
The pier was built from turpintine trees that grow on Fraser Island, the wood from these trees are not affected by salt water, hence the pier is in great condition.
These days the pier is a tourist attraction and a haven for keen fishermen.
I walked the beach from our accommodation about 2km away, the tide was out and the sun was just setting. This photo shows about 2/3rds of the pier.

Hi Jude
I like this, I like how you made the wharf angle into the image. A decent range of colours from the blues of the sea to the warm light hitting the wharf. The human element adds a nice touch. It's a bit overexposed in the sky which is the only flaw here, this is where you need a polarizer or grad to keep this detail in the sky as the sensor can't capture the information your eye sees. Even though the sun is setting, it looks like this sky has been captured during the middle of the day which is weird.
Cheers
Jim
