Fraser Island

The Seventy Five Mile Beach runs along the east coast of Fraser Island only briefly interrupted by the three volcanic outcrops mentioned in the first posting of this mini-series. While it may not be the best place for swimming due to very dangerous currents and ripples and plentiful Tiger sharks, it is extremely beautiful and has a number of excellent highlights such as the Champagne Pools, Indian Head (from where you can often see the sharks in the surf), the Maheno Wreck and Eli Creek.

The beach acts as a highway for a strictly 4WD vehicles and also as a runway for planes making joy flights.

The picture was taken in the morning while waiting for the plane to land and go on an amazing joy flight over the island.

In WS is another view of the Seventy Mile Beach in the afternoon, before sunset. In here you can see a 4WD vehicle in the far background.
