Photographer’s Note
Fraser Island is also known as Great Sandy Island, & it's not hard to see why. I almost decided not to post this, as I wasn't happy with the final colour balance, even after pp. Another red magenta print, processed by the defunct photo company "Pacific".
Hard to believe, but just a few km away from here, is thick, luxuriant sub-tropical rainforest. Fraser Island is world heritage listed. In some parts of the sandhills, repeated lightning strikes from frequent summer storms, have fused the sand into glass.
The small speck on the left is a man walking away from the camera.

Whooo!
Superbe paysage!

Very well done.

Hi Chris,
Colors are a bit strange but the desert sensation is there, the person seems so small in the immensity ! Good color contrast between sand & sky.
Have a nice week end,

Strong composition in this one, Chris, the lonely man walking away into this almost outworldish scenery is very good. For my personal taste, the difference between the smoothed sky and the grainy land is a bit too much, but what to do when having to salvage a difficult print.

Incredible landscape,Chris!!
I really like your pp work, gives the shot a kind of dreamy atmosphere..
great contrast in the colors, and nice different textures in the composition.
the little man helps us to have an idea of the perspective.
Nice work

Bonsoir Chris,
Tu as bien fait de publier cette image. Je la trouve super. Les couleurs sont très belles, lisses.
La présence de cette personne montre l'ampleur du décor. J'aime.
Bien vu !

I agree with you Chris that the color balance is a bit off in this photo, but it gives it a special artistic look. The grain also helps to create that special feeling.

Chris
very beautiful! I love much the man on the photograph, alone in the vastness of the desert
the colors give a supernatural tonality.
congratulations and thank's for this post.

a wonderful 26 years old photograph, Chris. I think that the color balance is great and it gives the image a very moody effect. There is a feeling of a blowing wind, and the walking person is very well positioned in the frame. Great great shot, why did you keep it in your drawer so long?

In fact the problems if the image are clearly seen here. The magenta cast and noise a re visible. At the same time it creates a movie like image and that’s nice. Sounds like this is a very interesting place to see.

wow.. the person must've been quite brave to walk all alone in this huge desert... scary thought.

Wow!
It looks like the Sahara. I've got a few friends who've been here, and just rave about it. Supposed to be a blast. Although I've never seen any shots such as this with it looking so desert like. Impressive. I like the fact that you captured a lone wanderer in the shot.
Well done!

Interesting with the lightning making glass, never heard of that before. Nice shot, although I agree with you about the color balance, but with a 25 years old print it's not that bad, probably would be a lot nicer if you could scan the negative though.

A very strong compo with a desert sensation. A feeling of almost desolation, the whole is very well balanced and the human presence gives scale here! Great shot Chris.
