Photographer’s Note
The scenery along the Queensland coast, from Port Douglas to Cairns and beyond, is magnificent and largely unspoiled . It is ever changing. It has rocky cliffs, broad beaches and rich mangrove flats. Often too is has those vast Australian skies and a wonderful light. I suppose landscapes are ultimately only pretty pictures, as Ken Alexander wrote, in a recent critique, "All landscape photography is iconic," that is, ‘a cliché’. Ultimately , I suppose, it says, what much of TE photography says, that is, 'If you went to this place, this is what you would see. So, anyway, I made some pictures of this wonderful stretch of coast ,as I traveled down it ,in lovely Spring weather, just to say "This is what it looks like".

Hello Kevin,
I find that every picture is different even if it is taken at the same time in exactly the same place. Each one has something special about. Good capture of this expansive coastline with a fine long perspective. Interesting tonal contrasts between beach and vegetation.

Hi Kevin, never having been to that part of the country, I'm surprised by this view, very different to the coast down here, all rocks and sand. Although I think there used to be mangroves in Port Philip Bay - there is a small area left near the Westgate Bridge. Horizon is well placed and you managed to avoid too much of the cloudy sky blowing out. cheers, Steve

Kevin,
This is a very different coastline. Your composition and POV are great using the trees to frame the scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Hi Kevin,
Lovely capture of the tidal flats so typical of the coastline in FNQ.
Beautifully composed image, the balance is perfect, a pleasure to look at.
Cliche, this isn't a cliche, this is exactly the type of image that I would like to see more of on TE.
Warm regards
Peter.

Hi Kevin,
Interesting place, with these trees popping out of the sand it does not look really like seasied, rather a freshwater lake or so, in any case you created here a genuinely emtpy and exclusive feeling. Image quality seems a bit low for a 40D, but you show no lens & exif details so hard to tell what could go wrong.
Have a nice day JY
