Photographer’s Note
I am not sure if this is common rope practice in yachtclubs around the world. This one was taken on the Sunshine Coast.

Hello Mimi
I am a sailor in Quebec city (Canada). My eyes were attracted by your image. It’s a way which some lays out the mooring ropes to prevent that somebody hook in the ends which exceeds. Some also will bring back and attach it on the lifeline.
