Photographer’s Note
In the dying minutes of the day, an Australian pelican drifts in the shallow waters of the Maroochy River on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. These birds are graceful water birds stand at waist height of an average person. They are very docile and often wait patiently in front of fishermen in the chance that a fish will be caught and passed on to them. Much respect is given to these pelicans. These birds are amongst the heaviest of all flying birds, at almost twice the size of the North American cousins. It is a great sight to witness a ‘squadron’ of these giants pass by and land, reminiscent of Lancaster bombers.

Hi Matt. The best of both worlds here. Good looking pelican with its huge beak, and in a sunset situation. Gooc clarity and colours. Well taken and presented. Murray.
All the best for 2007.

Hi Matthew,
This is a lovely photo of a Pelican. The colours from the sky reflecting on the water are superb and you have him nicely framed. Excellent. Happy New Year from a fellow Australian.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Matt, this is a very sharp shot of the pelican, with very good detail and colour on the water. Composition wise I would have liked to have seen him a little closer to the right side of the shot, giving him some room to swim. Still, very nicely captured.
Thanks, John

Wonderful image, Matt! You have captured great detail and colors although I suspect it's a touch oversaturated as the white of the pelican looks a bit purple.
This is a fantastic photo, you should post some on TrekNature, this one would be perfect.
TFS, mate!
