This is a view of the Gold Coast, with the new Q1 tower (the tallest skyscraper in the photo)
The Q1 (Queensland Number One) is the world's tallest residential tower on the Gold Coast at 323m tall and 80 storeys high. It is also the 20th tallest building in the world.
There has been a level of controversy lately surrounding whether the tower's spire should be counted in the total height. If the spire is not included in the official height, then Melbourne's Eureka Tower would be the taller.
The Q1 contains a 2 storey observation deck with room for 400 people. It also has a ten storey tropical sky-garden, illuminated at night.
The Q1 has Australia's fastest lifts.
This photo was taken from Surfers Paradise Beach at night just before the rain started.

Very interesting info note Claudia. As I have been there in 2001 the building was still in planing. Maybe you can provide more photos of it. Regards, Radu.

Hi Claudia. A nice night photo of this skyline, with beautifully rendered lights and ambience from the long exposure time. The Q1 clearly takes center stage in your shot, and is nicely framed by the other buildings which - even though quite tall in their own right - are almost dwarfed by the sheer size of your main subject. Interesting notes, too - the ten storey tropical sky-garden sounds like a pretty interesting photo venue, too ;)

The skyline is beautiful, but the contrast with the tracks in the sand is superb. Great work to get this sharpness and excellent DOF in this difficult circumstances.

Yet again, another excellent photo from Surfer Paradise,
Your patience paid off to get this good shot, with the darness, setting up etc.
The brightness from the street lamps enhances your night scene.
Memories of late nights walking in Surfers Paradise.
Thanks for sharing.

Never would have guessed that this record went to Queensland! Very interesting scene with low viewpoint and beach sand in front, and skyline in the back. Tone is a bit brownish, maybe a small adjustment towards blue would help?

Your images of south east Queensland are very well done. Even though I live in Brisbane, I don't think I have ever seen the Gold Coast strip at night. The view from the top of Q1 is well worth the $15 lift ride, I think. This image is crystal clear and well centred on Q1. The colours are also outstanding. Well done and keep shooting!
