When I thought about a title for this photo, my conclusion was that the name of location fits just fine. Surfers Paradise is the Gold Coast's entertainment and tourism centre. As I know nothing about surfing I can't say how accurate the name is.

Hello Kari ,
This is an amazing composition ! The light and colors create a very special atmosphere Excellent balance bteween the two surfers (in atractive attitudes) and the gigantic high rises);
In my region , there are beaches for surfers , but not any building of this kind !

Beautiful amber light that characterizes the entire scene! Fantastic landscape with skyscrapers that seem built on the beach! Congratulations!

This urban beach looks interesting and attractive! I specially enjoyed the presence of the tallest skyscraper on the right!
Beautiful picture with special regards to the vertical format, composition, exposure and colors!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your week-end,

Love this shot! You have captured a beautiful and unique scene here with this couple on the lonely beach. The modern city created a superb background for the view and warm tonality made it so original and moody. Bravo! Truly art!

Hello Kari, for me the high high building at the right brings teh composition in balance and transform this daily scene in a interesting image.

Another photo with very interesting Armageddon-like light. The dusky pink tones are really beautiful and I like the effect of the haze coming off the ocean. The inclusion of the 2 surfers on the left FG balances the composition nicely with the skyscrapers on the right side of the frame. I like the square format too.
Best wishes, have a good week

I like this image a lot. The apparently unusual light is not that unusual if it is due to smoke from a bushfire. It is almost a perfect rendition of bushfire light in the evening. The other aspect that tells a great story is the surfer and his girlfriend. It is (at least was in my day) typical for the bloke to go surfing while his girlfriend waited on the beach.(Maybe that is what was meant by Surfer's paradise). More girls surf these days but you won't find a bloke waiting on the beach for his girlfriend. "Surfers Paradise" is a bit of a misnomer for the actual surfing location. There are many nearby locations that are the real Surfer's paradises. (Kirra, Greenmount, Burleigh heads etc.) These surf breaks have been a Mecca for surfers from all over Australia and also from around the world. I travelled up here from Sydney in the early 70's as soon as I owned a car.

Hi Kari - The strange light gives this shot a very unusual atmosphere which appeals to me. The highrise buildings look quite eerie and surreal as they rise up from the misty beach front. A compelling piece of photography. Warm regards Rosemary

Merci de ta visite. Cela me permet d'aller visiter ta galerie que je trouve des plus intéressante. Ici, c'est l'atmosphère de fin de journée avec cette lumière orange sur la plage.

I thought I critiqued this one already...guess i forgot about it.
this is very cool indeed. So is this in Sepia? looks like it.
I really enjoy the tall height on the right and the unique scene with such high rises close to the beach.

if I had to single out one picture, that captures and conveys the best the spirit of Australia I´d choose certainly this one.
The scene itself with the surfers and modern skyline behind is great, but here in this light and with so delightful golden glow it´s just a masterpiece for me.

Well commosed with surfers and this high building, nice tone and light capture, tfs.

this one is my favourite amongst your gold coast series of three. it has a "planet of the apes" feeling, like, i wouldn't be surprized to see a statue of liberty lying on the sands. stupendous use of composition and colors to create this strong post-apocalyptic mood.
sevy (15367) 2014-03-12 4:41
Special shot: the orange global color (dust in the air?) and the efficient composition with along a diagonale line the surfer and the big building aligned with the border of the frame. In middle, nothing but the beach, also giving a feeling of a 3rd dimension.
