Photographer’s Note

View from Wildhorse Mt Lookout of the Glasshouse mts, a group of extinct volcanoes last active 20 million years ago, about 80km north of Brisbane. Visible are Tibrogargon, Crookneck & Beerwah.

The forest surrounding the mountains is an exotic type of pine tree, native to the state of Florida in the USA.

Normally I don't like so much the photos with an important foreground, but here you play with it and its shadows to give depth to the image and it's really successful.
Interesting light too.

HI Chris, interesting shapes of these extinct volcanoes rising from an apparently quite flat area, I like the use of the columns, fence & roof of this observation deck to frame the subject.

Effectful compo with the natural framing of the terrace details. The green landscape with the distant mountains makes a fine back. The shades on the floor is good for the total impression.

Great view from this place. To the green tones of the wood you add soft and warm colours of the balcony. Good balanced.
I like the background mountain.

A special relief with the volcanos, Chris, the depth is formidable, the note in the roof of the shed is lovely detail. Excellent sharp and clear.

aha, mount lookout was my first trip after arriving in Australia. Quite a fun tour actually. Very good clear capture here! the interesting shapes of the mountain tops are very nice, rising from the mist. I like it that you enclosed the map of the surroundings.

Good use of the lookout pavilion to frame the uniquely shaped mountains in the back. Very interesting to see how they are rising amidst the greenery. Even in strong light you managed to retain contrast and colors in a very pleasing way. Well done Chris.

What a contrast in colors, fore to background and good use of forground as a frame to a pano view. The contrasts are very well handeld here in the bright sun.

Attractive framing you got here Chris. Just enough to draw attention to the landscape, giving it something like an atmospheric view of a Lost World, with the soft white halos around the mountains.

I rembember seeing the Glasshouse Mountains 12 years ago but don't remember this lookout. Anyway you've really used it well to frame the mountains. Good balance of light too and good DOV.

The thing with the Australian landscape, from an outsider's perspective is that its constantly surprising. One day I think I have it pegged, the next another shot comes along to shatter the image in my mind's eye. I think the inclusion of the lookout building really adds something here, I really feel like I am there in the photo. Needless to say the exposure is perfect as always. So expansive, wonderful.
