Photographer's Note

When visiting Cairnes, one of the great day trips from the town is riding on the Kurunda Scenic Railway. It is a spectacular journey comprising unsurpassed views of dense rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls. This famous railway winds its way on a journey of approximately 1 hour 45 minutes from Cairns to Kuranda, the village in the rainforest. The train stops at the Barron Falls for people to get off and view what was once a mighty 131m waterfall but now just a trickle because most of the water is diverted for hydroelectricity.
