[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I photographed this tree trunk last weekend in the rainforest at Manorina National Park in the Brisbane Forest Park. The shape of the lighter part of the dead wood really stood out, creating a strange mythological creature or animal. A little colour was added to the indentation which was obviously "the eye" but the green moss on the wood was there in the original, including the amazing V on his forehead.

The bunyip is a mythological animal in Australian folklore. It was believed to live near swamps and creeks and the loud, eerie, blood curdling noises it made at night frightened many of the early settlers. It seems that the noises they heard could have been those of the Barking owl, Bitterns and the Bush Stone Curlew, or even Australian Fur Seals which sometimes swim up stream during flooding conditions.

While this one doesn't look too scary by day, I wouldn't like to meet him in the forest at night!

a very beautifull bunyip !
this morning I comment a photo of a false tree but here we have a true bunyip! it's the first time I heard of that animal, LOL, here in Alpes we have the "Dahut"... a legend also!
I like when nature look as anythind else, and if you see that and shoot it it's because you know how to look the nature!

je ne connaissais pas cet animal légendaire,tu m'apprends donc quelque chose!Ce tronc ressemble vraiment à un animal .On a l'impression qu'il ferme les yeux!J'aime beaucoup les motifs et les couleurs qu'on peut voir sur son "corps" et le V en mousse sur son front!Bravo à toi qui a su le voir pendant ta promenade!
